Director of Pharmacy Education

Dr. Jamie Messenger graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2002 and completed her Pharmacotherapy Residency in Family Medicine at East Carolina University.  Dr. Messenger became Director of Pharmacy Education at AHEC-NW in 2006 with faculty appointments in the AHEC-NW Family Medicine Residency and the UAMS College of Pharmacy as Assistant Professor. Prior to returning home to Fayetteville, Dr. Messenger spent three years as Associate Director of Pharmacy Education at Eastern AHEC in Greenville, North Carolina.  In addition, she was Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at East Carolina University and Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

 Dr. Messenger’s clinical activities include providing patient education and disease state management for patients at the Family Medical Centers in Fayetteville and Springdale.  She also acts as a drug information resource and consultant for AHEC-NW faculty, residents and nurses. In addition to numerous teaching responsibilities at AHEC-NW, Dr. Messenger coordinates continuing education programs for the pharmacists of Northwest Arkansas.

Born in Enid, Oklahoma, Dr. Messenger enjoys travel abroad and hiking in the surrounding Ozark Mountains. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Arkansas.
