Paul Nguyen MD

Dr. Nguyen was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He is single and is a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences' College of Medicine in 2008.  He participated in the Community Match Scholarship Program with Barling, Arkansas being his selected community . He will devote at least four years of medical service after completing residency to Barling.   Paul completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. 
 
The first language Paul spoke was Vietnamese and he didn’t learn English until he entered grade school.  Today, he is still fluent in Vietnamese.  He grew up playing sports and currently tries to keep an active lifestyle playing basketball, golf, tennis, flag football and volleyball.  Watching these sports on television, listening to music and playing real-time strategy computer games are also some favorite past-times. 

In May 2007 he was profiled in the Arkansas Times Magazine in an article about scholarships and Arkansas high school students.  In October of 2007 he was awarded by the Vietnamese-American Medical Association their Achievement Award honoring “outstanding medical students who demonstrate great promise as future physicians”.  Dr. Nguyen has memberships in the American Medical Association, American Medical Student Association, Arkansas Medical Association, Rural Medicine Student Leadership Association, and the Vietnamese-American Medical Association.
